I made this little cake topper from scratch using rolled fondant, a string of pearl beads and some little bells tied
together with ribbon and secured with a ball of fondant. I attached the flowers and beads with royal icing
This cake was for a glider enthusiasist. The glider is made out of gum paste. It was a challenge to build because the
tips of the wings are angled up. I used royal icing to connect the outer orange part to the white inner piece and than set
the glider so that the outer part of the wings sat on the handles of two steak knives to hold them in position until they
dried. I had to repair them a couple of times but learned a great deal while making it.
